The healthcare provider identifies anatomical landmarks that are crucial for accurate placement of the electrode array. To enhance precision, ultrasound guidance may be utilized, which is separately reportable, to assist in the correct positioning of the electrode. During the procedure, an electrically insulated needle is carefully inserted through the skin and advanced toward the targeted neuromuscular site. Once the needle is in position, a power source is connected to it, allowing for stimulation to be applied. The healthcare provider evaluates the patient's responses as the needle's position is adjusted, continuing this process until the desired neuromuscular response is achieved. After confirming the appropriate response, the needle is disconnected from the power source. Subsequently, an electrode array is introduced through the lumen of the needle and positioned precisely at the intended neuromuscular location. The needle is then removed, leaving the electrode array in place. Following the implantation, the electrode is tested to ensure it is functioning correctly, and its position is verified. Finally, the electrode array is connected to an external generator or receiver, completing the implantation process.
